ROTARY DAY IN OAK BAY
Thirty-six club members assembled on the lawn in front of the Municipal Hall for the Third Annual Rotary Day. Among visiting Rotarians were George Baerg, Chilliwack; Jack Jeffrey, Harbourside, Bruce Willats, Laguna Beach, and John Martin, Harbourside.
There were many guests. Of note were Ida Chong, Ron Gaudet, and John Hebert.
Daniel Lapp and Adam Dobres entertained us; they were kindly sponsored by the Penny Farthing Pub. Also, we must thank Starbucks for providing their excellent coffee.
Jack Petrie emceed the meeting and thanked those above as well as the Village Pizza, Village Patisserie and Mr. Tube Steak for coming out again to provide food for all.
Jack then introduced Oak Bay's M.L.A., Ida Chong, who had a few kind words for our club's contributions to Oak Bay. Councillor John Herbert represented Mayor Causton and the Council. He noted that next year is the 100 th anniversary of Oak Bay and challenged our Club to cooperate with Council (John is chair of the Municipality's Centennial Committee) on a project to commemorate the occasion. Finally, President David reminded the audience of the many different good works which our Club engages in, both locally and in concert with Rotary International. All in all, a very pleasant occasion, as usual. But enough of words - herewith are pictures by Tricia.
And more...
NEXT TUESDAY WE VISIT THE LEGISLATURE.
