Sergeant-at-Arms Mark Bedford asked Giles Bixler to pass around the fines pot and then promptly fined him for not wearing a badge.
Brian Lamb and Neil Rawnsley fined for having known Lorna Curtis but not inviting her into the club. Jerry for “dumping” his illegible notes from the Fireside onto Leslie.
Dallas for an off colour comment about alcohol.
Leslie for sniffing 3 empty glasses at the Fireside seeking the red wine glass.
Jack for his cell phone ringing at the Fireside.
Steve for not knowing when Polio Plus was launched.
Hans for talking with the female members while he should have been focusing on his duties as “Greeter”.
Tav for not shaking hands with 2 members whose hands were outstretched as he entered.
David Sills and Brian Lamb recognized for their 30th birthdays.
Cedric for his anniversary.
Happy and sad dollars from Ron and Tav.
Ted made the draw which Joan Peggs won but she picked the black marble.
Announcements
Mary Canty happily reported the health of the club was “Good!!”
Lynne Murray noted that our attendance was only 80% and reminded membership to do makeups online. One only has to be online for 30 minutes.
She also mentioned that our incoming student was expected from central Europe and she is seeking host families.
Tav remarked that he had spoken with Fie from Denmark today by phone. She is well.
Anne Sims reminded us to submit our Polio Plus Donations. Speaking of which, Joan Firkins has reported that members have so far donated $1,980 for the PolioPlus Partners Campaign which, matched 50% by the Foundation, yields $2,970. Well Done!

Induction of New member
Jack Petrie introduced Barry Mutter and his recently proposed and now accepted new member, Bill Phelan. Bill has been with the RCMP, CISIS, Financial Planning, and is now a Government Director of the Offshore Oil & Gas Branch, Ministry of Energy, Mines & Petroleum Resources. He is married with four adult children.
Jack congratulated Bill and welcomed him to the club, citing the expectations of membership
and the 4-way test.
Tav also congratulated Barry for bringing Bill into the club, giving him the President’s Key Fob.
|
Tav also presented the President’s Bookmark to Neil Madsen.
Neil took the occasion to thank all members who have served as reporters for the Bulletin, saying that with the acoustics in the room and his poor hearing, he couldn’t do the Bulletin without them.

Pres. Tav. thanked all who were instrumental in organizing the Fireside and for all the members who attended.
The Chair of the Foundation Committee, David Maxwell, then took the stage.
He recognized Pablo as a recent “Benefactor”. Also, Tom Croft for dedicating his most recent Paul Harris (he has 6!!!) to his mother, May. Neil Rawnsley dedicated his most recent Paul Harris to his daughter Channa who was present and both proud and thrilled to receive the award.
Neil Rawnsley mentioned Joan Peggs’ father DP who was a very influential Rotarian and influenced Neil in a most positive way. He was “Mr. Foundation” and had a wealth of books and information about it.
Tom Croft now has 6 Paul Harris awards and John Edgell has 8.
There were 40 envelopes containing at least 125 points toward future Paul Harris awards, available for $125 CDN. 20 envelopes were sold prior to offering and 7 more at the meeting,
raising a total of $3,400 (names from Neil R). Leslie notes that 13 are still available including both $375 envelopes and two for $250.
