Program for October 30, reported by David Maxwell - Click here for PRINT VERSION
Many of the members wore costumes today. There were more witches than usual and John Snively was his usual colourful self. President Jack added to the occasion with his Halloween
joke, “Why does an angry witch not ride her broomstick? Because she is afraid of flying off the handle.” Ron Gaudet recited the grace and Tom Lidkea played for O Canada. The food was a bit late today so we all had a sense of what it was like to go hungry…for at least 15 minutes. Jack started the meeting while we waited for our meal.

McLean, McLeod, McLaughlin, Munro, Murray, Mutter, Marsh. (You should have seen how much money all those Scots were able to extract from the members!) (Hey, there was one non-Scot in that lot but Madsen failed to extract a fine from the S@A for operating a secret police snitch operation.)

Wendie Hogarth: Came to Victoria last year after a long career with the Royal Bank. Wendie is enjoying her three grown kids. She loves to travel and has been involved with the Scottish Festival and the Chamber of Commerce
prior to joining Rotary. She looks forward to meeting and helping others in the Victoria community.

|
Kathleen Froese: Kathleen has a long history with Rotary through her involvement with Interact and Rotaract. She graduated from Nursing School 2 years ago and shared her philosophy of Nursing with us. It involves both skill and art as it relates to caring for the patient. Kathleen is an advocate of health prevention in society. She has an interest in travel medicine with the goal of being a Nurse Practitioner in a third world country. She encouraged all of us to find balance in life. |
|
Wolf Schopper: Wolf has traced his Austrian heritage back to 1329 and showed us his family coat of arms. His dad was a Rotarian. Wolf traveled as a child, and practiced psychiatry for 30 years in Linz, Austria. His extensive world travel brought him to Victoria where he became married in 1995. He now enjoys his children, one in Grade three and one in Grade five. |
